Biography

Li Jihua, Specially Appointed Physician in the Department of Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery at Chengdu Friendship Hospital. He graduated from Sichuan University and has worked successively at West China Hospital of Stomatology, Sichuan University; Chengdu Miya Plastic and Aesthetic Hospital; and Sichuan Friendship Hospital, with 33 years of medical experience. Over his 23 years in the plastic and aesthetic industry, he has focused on clinical work in orthognathic surgery, maxillofacial contour aesthetic surgery, and maxillofacial defect repair and reconstruction. He is highly skilled in maxillofacial plastic surgery and has more than 10,000 successful cases of high-difficulty and complex facial contour surgery. His surgical characteristics include minimally invasive and scarless procedures with minimal blood loss.

Years of clinical practice have enabled Li Jihua to conduct systematic and in-depth research on orthognathic surgery/facial contour aesthetic surgery, and he has profound attainments in the field of maxillofacial plastic surgery. He not only established the “V-line” surgical concept but also further improved it based on the V-line maxillofacial plastic surgery concept, creating a new G-spiral natural facial contour concept. He holds 2 granted patents: a distraction device for mandibular defect reconstruction and a distractor for mandibular condyle reconstruction, making outstanding contributions to promoting the development of maxillofacial surgery techniques.

He has published more than 30 research papers in oral and maxillofacial surgery and plastic and aesthetic surgery journals such as JOMS, Biomaterials, Bone, IJOMS, PRS, JPRAS, and APS. He has contributed to 5 monographs, including Orthognathic Surgery, Chinese Stomatology, Comprehensive Rhinoplasty, and Basic and Clinical Aspects of Mandibular Reconstruction, providing a theoretical basis and outstanding experience for the application and advancement of maxillofacial surgery in medical aesthetics and plastic surgery.

Li Jihua served as a member and secretary-general of the Orthognathic Surgery Specialty Group. He has been invited multiple times to attend and speak at domestic and international academic exchange conferences and has participated in the teaching of multiple continuing education programs and in provincial-level research projects. He has led and participated in research on NSFC, 863, and 973 projects. As a project leader, he has received funding from multiple Natural Science Foundations, “973” and “863” Postdoctoral Scientific Research Funds, and the Sichuan Outstanding Youth Fund, and has won the First Prize of the Science and Technology Progress Award.
